Electronic Leak Detection through  ‘Overburden’ adds additional complexities that can impact testing accuracy. This is because more elements and layers are added to your assembly.

In figure 1, you will see a traditional ELD testing process where the electricity is grounded allowing to ELD unit to provide accurate breach detection.

In figure 2, notice the extra layer of insulation that stops the electricity from grounding. This masks breaches unless a grounding medium is installed.


While testing through overburden provides insight into breaches and leak locations, accuracy may be impacted.
